International Library and Information Science Society is one of the International nonprofit organizations representing the interest of Library and Information service professionals and library users. The society has been Registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Regulation Act, 1975 (Tamil Nadu Act 27 of 1975). Reg.No.44/2016 on 13th May 2016.
The Society was founded during the 2nd International Conference on Innovation Driven Librarianship (2nd ICIDL 2015) held at SRM University on 11-13th June 2015, Tamil Nadu, India, proposed by Prof. Dong-Geun Oh, Conference Chair. The idea of Prof. Dong Geun Oh was accepted by the participated country members, and the members agreed to the proposal of starting the Society, head quartering Central Library, SRM University.
I-LISS is an international, Non-government, Non-profit organization. The main aims of this society are:

Minutes of the 3rd Executive Committee meeting of “LISSASPAC” held on 19.08.2017 at 8.00 pm at Gault Library CMC Medical College, Vellore, India.
To contribute for the betterment of Library and Information Science Profession and Education, Training and Research and to facilitate the cooperation and collaboration among the researchers in all areas related to Library and Information Science, mainly based on the close personal relationships and co-operation
To promote the best practices in Library and Information Science among the members and member countries
To conduct Conferences, Seminars and workshops in Library and Information Science.
To publish journals, newsletters and research monographs for the benefit of the members of the Society in tune with the objectives of the Society. To do all such other things as incidental or conducive to the fulfillment of the above mentioned aims and objective
The Executive Committee (EC) shall consist of 7 members including the President, Co-President, Secretary General, Treasurer and 3 Executive Committee members. The Secretary General ex officio gives advice and acts as Secretary to the EC.

The idea was proposed by Prof. Dong-Geun Oh, Conference Chair of 2nd International Conference on Innovation Driven Librarianship: Crating Future Landscape for the New Generational Libraries and LIS Professional (2nd ICIDL 2015) on 11th June 2015 held at SRM University, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. This was discussed with other national members who attended the conference and they agreed to establish a new society named as LISSASPAC (Library and Information Science Society for Asia and the Pacific). In the year 2019 the society was renamed as International Library and Information Science Society (I-LISS).
